CreateWindow in createWindow failed

Post by Razashadow on Tue Apr 24, 2012 9:42 pm

When I try to start the 97a build of the game I immediately get a crash Sad it causes this error;

Error code 482
CreateWindow in createWindow failed.

Win32Lib v0.70.4 17-Jun-2008

Press Enter...

The program then proceeds to attempt to put my computer in to stand by mode. I know this isn't a virus causing this or something since I downloaded it through the appropriate links.
I have Vista if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Its the Data Execution Prevention acting up. There are instructions on how to make an exception for this game elsewhere on the board (don't remember where exactly.)

So same issue, couldn't find the other thread so posting the solution I found here. (It has got "createwindow" which appears twice in its error message in the thread name). Was DEP acting up need to make an exemption or turn it off. When adding to the excemption list just track down the game and select the .exe file. Restart after changing the DEP settings.

Control Panel>System>Advance System Settings>Advanced tab>Settings button(under performance)>Data Encryption Prevention tab

I however had an additional problem, the whole DEP tab was grayed out and it said I had to be admin(check) and I needed a bcdedit.exe file... So I went and looked that up and here is the solution.

Open the "cmd" window as administrator (Start button>type cmd in the search/run window>right click and select run as administrator)

Enter these two commands:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx optin

Then restart the computer and you should be able to alter the DEP tab.
