Ok - yup, it's another Remake, but ultimately 80% of the code will be the same or similar and therefore you should get the same feeling as the original.

Issues and Bugs are my first priority - these include but are not limited to:

1. Better interface for Girls so that you're not cycling through them like an index
2. Girls list sortable by attributes so that management becomes a lot easier
3. Buttons to be disabled or not shown instead of letting you know the parameters don't match and being confusing (like not enough gold)
4. Corrected grammar and sentence structure to remove confusion
5. Game play for Buildings, Accessories and Scheduling is too complicated and will need to be simplified

Improvements I plan to add at a later time:

1. Girls Stats to be swapped amongst girls at start of game or stats to be fully Randomized at start
2. Unowned girls stats can change daily or every 7 days and can either improve or lower (cost will fluctuate accordingly)
3. Slideshow of daily girls will have 3 options (1. do not show anything - 2. show random girls by percent - 3. show all)
4. Girls on market will fluctuate depending on level (1. easy can show random 15 girls - 2. normal will only show 10 - 3. hard will show 5 only)
5. Also, hiring girls can only be done once per day and therefore will make the girls that show up on market very crucial

So now the tricky part.  I have a small swf playable but have no where to really host it and secondly, most of the graphics used are taken from LOP, so I guess I should add that disclaimer so that they at least get some credit and advertising for their work.

Ok, I put up some images of what the game design looks like right now.  Plugging away - all that's left from the game play side are the items, buildings, buildings upgrades and scheduling.  Maybe another week or so I think, then I can really start plugging away at enhancing the potential of the game.

Ok, another update.  I know it's not a Development thread and more for Releases, but I just want to keep it updated so people know where it's at and also to help attract more attention.

Half the items work now.  The change in game interface is basically that you no longer have to buy each item for each girl as that was what bogged it down in my opinion.  Instead, you will get to purchase 'communal' items that can be used across all girls.  This means you can use items spread out amongst the girls or you can focus on one girl solely to get her stats up as quickly as possible.

The tricky part is that you will be given a set limit on the number of items you can purchase.  Easy can purchase 45 of each item, normal 30 and hard can only purchase 15 of each item.  I'm not exactly sure how it will affect the game balance but that will have to be determined after.  

I'll spend another day or two thinking if that's exactly how I want to handle the clothes (dresses) as well and then go from there.

Still to do:  Buildings, Buildings Upgrades, Scheduling and Event tweaks

Buildings and Building Upgrades have been completed. It's not overly complicated but having to do all the sprites and design concept of how to get the most intuitive design out of it is. I also do a ton of QA because I'm a bit of a perfectionist so even the smallest bug or thing that doesn't make sense gets corrected. I've also learned how to do classic tweens and animations but I won't indiscriminately put them everywhere just to have the perverse pleasure of seeing heaving breasts. They're just too distracting from being able to focus on the gameplay which is what I believe is the most important.

While thinking of the gameplay, 3 new enhancements came to mind but not sure how to approach them yet and they'll be on the backburner until the release candidate is done.

1. Max rooms per buildings, just like I put in the Max items... so the shack would only allow 5, small house (bungalow now) would allow 7, etc...
2. A new task called Cleaning. As the Buildings get used, they'll get accumulation of dirt or trash which will need to be cleaned by girls. The higher the girls constitution, joy and refinement, the better they'll clean. The lower level the building, the faster the trash will build up since the customers there will usually be less refined also. Still brainstorming ideas mostly.
3. A new event based on Girls having Enemies or Nemesis. Their nemesis will be randomized at the start of the game and if two girls are working in the same building, they can fight and lose stats without you knowing. Maybe have a 30% chance that the fight actually gets reported.

These are all thoughts, but even if I do implement them, I may keep an option that uses Original gameplay versus Modified and go from there.

Status Update: Buildings and Building Upgrades are done along with a ton of modifications I had to do on previous code I did earlier so that it'd be more streamlined.

Advertising is different again. Instead of choosing the 6 advertising options per building, I've streamlined it so there's a flat fee per building that you put into Advertising. From the original version, the total sum was 367 (2 + 5 + 10 + 50 + 100 + 200). I basically kept a top limit of 360 which is fairly close. As you get into the higher numbers, the intervals of increments increase so you won't have to click + 1 360 times per building. Overall it does the job I think and once you're in the money, the max cost is 2560 only, so you usually ignore it once you got it covered.

The Scheduling was tricky as well. Especially since I did a drag and drop interface which means each element had to be accounted for and their x-y coordinates modified. But I think the drag and drop will really enhance the feel of the game and stop it from feeling so bogged down. Scheduling also took a lot longer because of the 'Lesson' expenses which combines with the Advertising expenses as you won't necessarily feel the cost until after you're in the negative. Putting too much boundaries is time consuming so I limited Advertising cap to Gold cap and it won't let you assign anyone to Lessons if the additional cost will put you over. You can do it the other way though, assign the Girls to lessons first and then play with Advertising, but then it won't let you continue onto the next day until your expenses are lower than your Gold total. I did the same solution for Negative Gold as I don't remember how the original did it. You basically won't be allowed to continue until your Negative Gold is balanced.

Yes, I'm developing faster than most people but I have the time so doing it. If I had to come back every weekend and waste time revisiting the code, I'd probably end up giving up and quitting like a lot of others.

All girls characters have been chosen with their initial image in (with possibility of some changes).  I don't want to overload the file with too much images while I'm still developing as it'll just bog down the compilation time for QA.  Now that I'm modifying the Settings and Options pages, I've had to fix certain other issues that behaved differently with the new settings.  Overall, it's getting there.  Options so far are:

1. Use Original Stats
2. Swap randomly all Original stats between girls (except for chosen Character)
3. Randomize all Original stats (except for chosen Character)
4. Return run away girls to market or remove totally from game option
5. Fluctuate girls stats on market randomly

Still to do the girls enemies feature, but again, it'll be an option that can be enabled or disabled as per preference.  Also, the win/ending conditions will be different.  Haven't decided how many different endings there will be yet, but I've added a Total Score feature which increases based on the items you purchase, the buildings you buy and upgrade, missions completed, etc...   Even after all that, it will be adjusted based on your option settings and difficulty level and basically all 10 missions will need to be completed to ensure the final ending.

I haven't decided how I'm going to release it yet, whether release it for beta testing for a week or see if there's interest for private beta testing and game balancing.  There won't be much images in that release though as I'll still be working on the game play itself.

The v0.89 game has been posted.  I've put in as much time as I can for now.  The game itself is quite complete though I expect there to be various bugs here and there.  All images, sprite animation and layer animations have been included, that's why it's 90mb.  I'll create a bug thread in the other forum, but not sure how much time I'll have to actually fix anything.    

Each girl has 7 possible images, and the random counter is now based on Rank level of the girl.  Basically Rank 1 only shows 1 image, Rank 2 has 50% of 2, Rank 3 33% of 3, etc..  

Don't complain if Hard is too Hard, that's what it's supposed to be in my view, HARD.  That's all I'll say for now, it's not a new game so most should know how to play it already.

Nice, thanks for posting this. Seems to be pretty well fleshed out already, and I particularly like that it even has some rudimentary animations.  Smile 
I'm not sure why nobody else has responded in the topic yet.


I've noticed one real major bug, though it does seem like a nasty one. It should be a trivial fix, too. When you move a girl to Ceremony on the Scheduling window, it adds 80 to the lessons cost. When you move the girl somewhere else, though, it only subtracts 40 from the lessons cost, so you're left with 40 extra lessons cost. This happens every time, so after a few times the lessons cost gets artificially inflated with no way to fix it. Saving and exiting the game, and then starting the game back up doesn't fix it.

The other classes seem to work fine, it's just the Ceremony one which has that problem.

Some of the girl descriptions also seem to refer to stats by old names which are no longer correct. For example, Samantha's description refers to her "character" being higher than what's displayed; is that perhaps "attitude"? There are a few other such instances of old stat names I've noticed, but that's the only one I found just glancing through now.

Version 0.92 updated. I recall seeing that issue too and even looked at the code but forgot the cost of ceremony was 40 and not 20 so assumed the code was correct. It's been fixed now, it'll subtract the correct difference. Comments for the girls have been adjusted as well.

I've noticed a few other bugs.

There is a problem with the "Famous" ability. When you spend the 15 AP to select it, it toggles and looks like it purchased fine, but upon leaving and re-entering the abilities screen, it's unselected again. You're still out the 15 AP it took to get the ability, though.

Fiera's description mentions Libido, which I'd guess is supposed to be Passion.

I own all buildings and have moved girls between them a fair bit, and somehow now the first two which are empty are listed as "-1 / 1" and "-1 / 2" rooms used respectively. Adding a girl to either building changes the "-1" to "0", predictably.
If I may suggest, it's better practice when dealing with values which are counts or running tallies or similar to fully recalculate the value each time anything related to it changes, rather than simply adding to or subtracting from it.

For Mission 8, the goal is to manage 38 girls. In this game I have 30 now, with 2 more left I think occasionally showing up in the hiring screen. I think there are more available from swapping the special jokers and from those random "this girl wants to work for you (yes/no)" events, but considering I can only trade the special joker I just got from Mission 7 for one of those (totaling 33 girls), it seems unlikely for me to get 5 random girl hiring events in 30 days.

Weird on the buildings, they are done fully recalculated. So must mean one of the functions over-releases or doesn't do it correctly.

About Mission 8, it's randomly adjusted, so it just takes the amount you have and adds a number. None of the missions are fixed in that regard though there would be a bug where they ask you to get more girls than you're technically allowed.

0.93 updated with the Famous Ability fixed.

I've checked all the release/building movement between girls and am sure that it's not an issue in that code. Played most event triggers too from sick girls by customers, sick girl event, fire building event, clean building event and sell girl event and all release the building as expected.

If you or anyone else can notice exactly when the incorrect building release gets triggered it'd help me isolate and fix the code quicker. I don't doubt that it's there, just need help figuring what part it's in.

1. Good Health ability bug has been fixed.
2. Advertising now will increase customers correctly
3. Girl images now have 8 images (except Tori and Britney)
4. Girl images updated with better images and full sprites where appliacable

Version 0.96 is now available on the first page for download.

Updates include various game enhancements that I felt were needed as I started playing and realized I was wasting time always checking certain things:

1. A * (star) now appears beside the girls name if she is able to be ranked up. Only appears if she fits the requirement and you have enough gold. Should save time to see who can be ranked up instead of checking every girl's stats page.

2. A girl's health on the Scheduling page is now better visually seen as the alpha mask lowers in relation to the girl's health. Girls at 80-100 health will be fully visible and then as health drops down from 80 to 0, the transparency is lowered so that one glance at the page can see who needs rest and who is okay to keep working.

These weren't on my previous improvements list but I really felt they were needed, so I did them.

Also, Tori was removed and replaced with Lauren from City of Love (LOP) and Britney was removed and replaced with Alice from City of Love (LOP).

0.97 is already in development - no real bug issues that I know of, just gradual improvements.

1. Rephrased some of the Options text
2. Changed the "Resign from Game" background from white to a darker gray - I know I kept wanting to press it thinking it was a "Save Settings" button or something
3. Multi-save, now allows for 2 separate game saves - don't really see the need for 3 or more so leaving it at 2
4. Girls Event for buying/selling girls now has it's own popup with the girls image which makes it more visually appealing imo instead of just text at the bottom with a yes/no making it feel like an after thought
5. Girls Events where a girl sells her service now randomizes her cost so you could be either buying her cheaper than she's worth or you could be paying more than what her stats truly offer - a little gamble never hurt anyone and it adds to the game I feel
6. All Events now show up in the Events popup which makes them more noticable
7. Random Events option added for new events not in the original game - includes random events that effect some of the girls' stats
8. Missions notice now uses popup as well for when a 30 day mission passes or fails
9. Missions reworked and rank up mission should be a bit easier
10. Girls that have enough ability points to enable an ability now have a * beside their name
11. Girls that can be ranked up have a + instead of a * beside their name


0.97 link posted on the first page. Figured I might as well update while not a lot of people have downloaded 0.96. With all these changes, I expect some bugs, just let me know if you see any. Thanks.

... I had just downloaded the previous version about 2 hours before u released this version -.-. So help me if you do this again tommorow or something! Mad
Onto a few bugs I found in the other version. Maybe not such a bug but for example: whenever I saved and then played a day with a girl resting at 60% (day 50) health she would heal to 80% health the following day (day 51). If I didn't save it and closed the game at this point I could load my save file up (day 50) and she would be at 80% health but still on the day I saved it (day 50). This can be exploited to easily heal girls without moving onto a new day. I think the same happens with stat changes as well, they increase but the days don't.

Summary: After the game has been loaded from the save, the player can simply save the game again and repeat the above bug. When the game is closed it will open on the saved date e.g. day 50, however sometimes any stat changes from day 51 will be kept. Essentially boosting the stats without increasing the date.

Another bug I found was when the girl selling themselves to you events happen, I clicked yes to buy a girl but then decided to close my game as I didn't like the joker I received on that day. When I loaded my save up I was a day behind from where I was, essentially the next day was the day I get the joker. But I still had the girl I bought and my money hadn't changed. I only experienced this once by mistake.
However I had essentially got a girl for free (keeping my money) and reverted back a day so I could get a better joker card.

I don't know if you would class these as bugs or whatever you want to call it.

A suggestion I would make is when you complete a day and click "Continue" at the top right to finish the summary page you are taken back to the management screen e.g. Schedule Day, Manage Girls, Advertising etc. I would recommend moving the Schedule Day button further left as when you finish a day and an event appears such as a girl selling herself to you, whenever I move your mouse to get ready to click yes or no I sometimes accidentally hover over the Schedule Day button which removes the text at the bottom displaying what the event was. Essentially it is then a guessing game of wether a girl is selling herself to you or someone wants to buy a girl off of you. I don't know if this has been made redundant with the changes you made in the newest game (pop up screens), however this little feature/error/thing did annoy me from time to time.

Yes, most likely the new popup on events will fix your issue with the text being quickly replaced as everything is shaded black with only the event popup in the fore.

I noticed inconsistencies with save game too and will look into it. I'm not sure why it would do that as the reference for saving is the day of but it must have to do with a save object flush reference. So it must be doing something with what's in memory also.

2. Check to see if abilities can be enabled fixed. Wasn't checking rank so it would think you could enable some abilities even if they weren't being shown because the girl wasn't a certain rank.

On a different note your event pop ups do fix the problem I had with important text disappearing when hovering over other buttons Very Happy
Something to look into the future. Another area to display the previous day's summary,
I bring this up because when you complete a day it still does the thing of removing how much profit you earned the previous day which u fixed for the girl events but this still happens for the profit made from the previous day.
This is just a possible change that you can make in the future...

In what way do you need to know the previous day's earnings? Is it just to see how close you were to breaking even? I could probably do a tooltip over the gold that displays a +/- of the previous days earnings.

I meant the text that stays there e.g. girls brought in this much, expenses this much, earnings of this much...
I thought it disappeared whenever u hovered over a button just like the random event stuff but it doesn't...

Sorry for the false alarm kinda. Although you could make a way of being able to show the previous day's summary sheet e.g.
Megan works at the Bungalow and services 3 out of 3 customers...
Margaret attends sex lessons
vivian attends sex lessons
etc.
It would just be a way for people to view and see which girls improved on there skills more and which ones worked hard in case they accidentally skip the summary because of clicking past it when you have 20+ girls and you click through them all fast.

0.98 is up. Most of the save issues should be fixed. There were issues with referencing Arrays and Multi-dimensional Arrays that were still being modified after the initial save because they were references and not values.
